Industrial Mechanic - CNC Machine Maintenance Tech - Spindle Technician

Centerline repairs and rebuilds spindles for precision machine tools, such as CNC milling, turning, grinding, routing machines etc. An experienced CNC maintenance technician, or machine rebuilder, would be a perfect fit to fill this opening.Description of Duties:

Fabricate, assemble, and process electronic and mechanical parts as required to meet specs.

Inspect components and sub-assemblies.

Perform component failure analysis as required.

Perform in-process testing as needed.

Assembly and disassembly of machine tools (spindles, drives, etc.)

Mechanical Skill Set:

Reading blueprints and producing sketches and assembly notes

Using precision measuring equipment, indicators, gauge blocks, micrometers, drawforce testing etc.

Understanding the function, and tolerancing of different spindle components - shaft, housing, drawbars, piston assemblies, springs, tool changers and tool grippers etc

Identifying disassembly and reassembly sequences

Use of equipment needed - Presses, hoists, drills, impact tools, grinders, torches

Use of manual lathe, mill, drill press - for minor rework

Use of balancing and testing equipment

Electrical Skill Set:

Reading schematic diagrams

Producing electrical connector diagrams

Use of Ohm-meter, Baker, sensor testers, encoder testers, Oscilloscope

Safely connecting and disconnecting spindles for test run

Use of spindle drives when pre-programmed

Setting up / programming of drives for different spindle motors

Soldering and insulating wires and pins

Understanding and testing of sensors and their function within a spindle system

Understanding and testing of encoders

Hydraulics and Pneumatics:

Reading diagrams and schematics

Measuring and identifying seals and o-rings

Measuring and identifying fittings, hoses, valves

Understanding the use of hydraulics and pneumatics within a spindle system (lubrication, tool change, sealing air, cooling, taper blow-out etc.

Technician work week is (4) 10 hr days which gives long weekends switching from Monday or Friday off each week. Starting pay ranges from $15/hr to $25/hr depending on qualifications and experience levels. Bonuses are paid on jobs completed and are in addition to the hourly pay.
